Liberal Indoctrination
Ok, so I just finished my Survey of Professional Media class this morning which had a substitute teacher, Kim Gordon I believe his name was. Allow me to set the scene for you...this is a class in which we are understanding the basic areas of media fields. Jill Schroeder, our instructor, was absent for today's class so we had Gordon as our sub. He began to discuss his "theories" and "opinions" on how technology will eventually destory humanity and cause us to eventually replicate ourselves and cause our own demise. lol, this is such lame crap the likes of which I have never seen in a classroom. Education is supposed to be the fair and balanced exchange of information in a classroom, not the indoctrination of one man's opinions into the minds of college students. Here I am, sitting through this lecture wishing I could punch this man's lights out--he was totally full of it!!! I was forced to sit in a lecture, take notes, and present a summary of his lecture in a paper due Wednesday--is this was I am paying money for? I did not pay $18,000 to come to this school and study how technology is going to be detremental to humanity, NO!!! I am giong to talk to Cheryl Guffey concerning this problem and have it rectified as soon as possible.
Mexico Making U.S. Policy???
Mexico's president sharply criticized President Bush's signing Thursday of a bill to build 700 miles of additional fencing on its southern border, calling the move an "embarrassment."Bush signed the bill, approved by the Senate last month, despite pleas from the Mexican government for a veto. President Vicente Fox told reporters in the Caribbean resort city of Cancun that the fence would not stop millions of Mexicans from heading north in search of jobs. "It is an embarrassment for the United States," Fox said. "It is proof, perhaps, that the United States does not see immigration as a subject that corresponds to both countries." President-elect Felipe Calderon, who takes over from Fox on Dec. 1, agreed. "The decision made by Congress and the U.S. government is deplorable," Calderon said while on tour in Canada. "Humanity committed a grave error by constructing the Berlin wall and I am sure that today the United States is committing a grave error in constructing a wall along our northern border." The Mexican foreign ministry later said in a news release that the construction of a wall affects the United States' relationship with Mexico, as well as with Central American countries, from which thousands emigrate northward. On Wednesday, Mexico, supported by 27 countries, made a declaration at the Organization of American States, expressing their "profound concern" about the plan. An estimated 11 million Mexicans live in the United States, about half of them illegally.
Michael J. Fox--The Latest Victom of The Democrats
One of the big issues in the Missouri Senate race -- as you know, we touched on it yesterday -- is the Michael J. Fox commercial which is entirely misleading and which is in itself an attack ad, and it is filled with disinformation about embryonic stem cell research and how Jim Talent wants to criminalize it. Embryonic stem cell research -- and, by the way, Fox is doing similar commercials in Maryland now for Ben Cardin against Michael Steele. But embryonic stem cell research is currently legal and completely unrestricted in both Maryland and Missouri and in the vast majority of other states. It's largely personal and institutional ethics that keep scientists from cloning research. The debate we're having is almost always about governmental funding or radical measures like the one currently on the ballot in Missouri, which is Amendment 2, which would write a right to cloning into the state constitution of Missouri, and it's one of these cleverly worded things that makes you: if you vote yes, you're voting no, and vice-versa. So we'll talk more about the Michael Fox situation because, as I knew yesterday, the Drive-By Media, including things like Inside Edition, are all panting (panting) to make something out of this that isn't. We will address that, but Michael J. Fox entered the political arena long ago. He became a US citizen in 2000. He's from Canada. He was active in the Kerry campaign in 2004 and he's entered the political arena again with this series of commercials for Ben Cardin in Maryland and Claire McCaskill in Missouri. One of the tactics the Democrats have -- and they've used this consistently. They bring forth people who they think are victims for the purposes of exploiting them, and when you bring forth -- for example, if you're talking about embryonic stem cell research, and you want to convey the notion that the Republicans are opposed to it, and in effect they're for people having Parkinson's Disease. Make no mistake that's what the intent is.
The Truth Behind Gas Prices
The Federal Trade Commission conducted investigations into price manipulation request of Congress, and multiple times have confirmed that this "price gouging conspiracy" is non-existent. When large profits roll in at a time of high gas prices, politicians immediately believe have evidence for the oil industry “price gouging” consumers. In fact, it is not greedy oil companies that have demanded these prices, but rather they the effects of a global market (there is currently a significant consumption in Asia and around the world) as well as inadequate refining at home. Additional factors include the climate of international affairs, and the current setback of hurricanes for US Gulf-region oil producers. When left to market forces, however, the situation will eventually re-stabilize. Just remember this come election time in a couple weeks.
Catholic Sainthood
As most of you probably already know, as of this weekend, there are four new saints. I used to think that getting knighted and being called “Sir” was about as good as titles got, but now that I think about it, “Saint” has a much better ring to it and way better perks (I’d make some sort of funny “membership card/club jacket” reference here, but I’d really rather not go to Hell). Of the four new saints that were canonized, one was a French nun who provided education to pioneers on the American frontier, one was a Mexican bishop who fought anticlerical policies in the 1920s, one was an Italian nun who advocated public schooling for girls in the late 17th-century, and the last was an Italian priest who was a trailblazer for education of the deaf. Now, these are all great works by exceptional individuals, but I can’t help but thinking…How can I get to be a saint? I mean, I live a pretty clean life and I do my best to help others whenever I can, but it’s 2006 and most of the good problems have pretty much been dealt with by past saints. And even if I did something that I thought was “saintworthy,” there are some pretty strict rules here (you can’t exactly be a write-in candidate). Vatican, you’re welcome. If there’s anything else I can do, just say the word. Like…I know that red is the Papal color, but have you thought about updating it to pink? I mean, it’s working for me!
October Surprise
A last-minute "October surprise" - a dramatic news event that shakes up the U.S. election - could be a wild card in the final three weeks of the fight for control of Congress. With Democrats threatening to sweep Republicans out of power in Congress in the Nov. 7 elections, a late-breaking foreign crisis, terrorist attack or another Washington scandal could change the debate and shape the ultimate outcome. The possibilities are numerous, as President Bush juggles multiple foreign threats like North Korea's nuclear tests, Iran's nuclear ambitions and civil war in Iraq, along with mushrooming Republican scandals at home. "There is a huge potential for some sort of October surprise that changes the dynamic, something that reminds everyone just how unstable the world is," pollster John Zogby said. The October surprise has a long history in U.S. political campaigns, from the collapse of hostage negotiations with Iran before President Jimmy Carter's 1980 loss to Ronald Reagan to the airing of an Osama bin Laden video before President Bush's re-election in 2004.
Congratulations--Your Citizen # 300 Million!!!
The nation's population officially hit 300 million at 7:46 a.m. EDT Tuesday, when the Census Bureau's population clock rolled over to the big number. But there weren't any wild celebrations, fireworks or any other government-sponsored hoopla to mark the milestone. Why bother? Many experts think the population actually hit 300 million months ago. "I don't think anybody believes it will be the precise moment when the population hits 300 million," Howard Hogan, the Census Bureau's associate director for demographic programs, said in an interview before the milestone was reached. But, he added, "We're confident that we're somewhat close." It's not easy estimating the exact number of people in a country the size of the United States. It gets even more complicated when you take into account illegal immigration, another reason for the federal government to let the milestone pass quietly. When the U.S. population officially hit 200 million in 1967, President Johnson held a news conference at the Commerce Department to hail America's past and to talk about the challenges ahead. Life magazine dispatched a cadre of photographers to find a baby born at the exact moment, anointing a boy born in Atlanta as the 200 millionth American. This year, there's a good chance the 300 millionth American has already walked across the border from Mexico.
Thank Bush For Low Gas Prices
The price of gasoline has fallen to its lowest level of the year. The federal Energy Information Administration said Monday that U.S. motorists paid $2.226 a gallon on average for regular grade last week, a decrease of 3.5 cents from the previous week. Pump prices are now 50 cents lower than a year ago and have plummeted by more than 80 cents a gallon since the start of August. The previous 2006 low for gasoline was set in the first week of January, when pump prices averaged $2.238 Gasoline can be found for less than $2 a gallon in many parts of the country. Tom Kloza, an analyst at the Oil Price Information Service in Wall, N.J., said Missouri is on course to become the first state with average prices below that psychological level. But in a sign of how wide prices can vary, the average cost of gasoline in Hawaii is still more than $3 a gallon, Kloza said. Gasoline prices were most expensive last week on the West Coast, averaging $2.51 per gallon, and cheapest in the Gulf Coast region, averaging $2.11 per gallon, according to the EIA. The price of oil is down roughly 25 percent since a summertime peak above $78 a barrel, settling Monday at $59.95. OPEC is planning to meet later this week to discuss cutting output in order to stabilize prices. Average retail gasoline prices peaked at $3.07 a gallon last September, reflecting the extreme tightness in the market following hurricanes Katrina and Rita, which knocked out refineries in the Gulf region as well as pipelines that deliver fuel to the East Coast and Midwest. They remained high all year amid soaring crude-oil prices, tight refining capacity and fears that there would be another extreme hurricane season this summer. But as the outlook for economic growth began to look shaky, supplies grew and hurricane fears never materialized, a massive selloff in gasoline futures began, sending oil futures lower as well.
UN Denies Chavez
Venezuela gained votes but still lagged behind Guatemala on Monday in the fourth round of secret balloting for an open Latin American seat in the U.N. Security Council for the years 2007-2008. Guatemala, supported by the United States, received 110 votes, down from 116 in the third round, while Venezuela got 75 votes, up from 70 in the third round. Six nations abstained. But Guatemala did not get the two-thirds majority needed for victory in the 192-nation body. Further rounds of balloting are necessary during which a new compromise candidate could emerge. However, Brazil's U.N. ambassador, Ronaldo Sardenberg, said it was still premature to think of a substitute candidate until the trend became clearer. Venezuela's U.N. ambassador, Francisco Javier Arias Cardenas, said the United States had tried to turn the vote into a contest between his government and Washington, and said votes cast for his government had been "votes of conscience" in favor of the developing world. "We are not competing with a brother country. We are competing with the biggest power on the planet," he told reporters, adding that Venezuela would not withdraw from the race. But U.S. Ambassador John Bolton said, "I think it is very clear there's a candidate with a strong predominant vote." However, he expected more rounds. "This has just begun."
The Rich Really Do Pay Most Of The Taxes
This is the latest data for calendar year 2003 just released in October 2005 by the Internal Revenue Service. The share of total income taxes paid by the top 1% of wage earners rose to 34.27% from 33.71% in 2002. Their income share (not just wages) rose from 16.12% to 16.77%. However, their average tax rate actually dropped from 27.25% down to 24.31%. Think of it this way: less than 3-1/2 dollars out of every $100 paid in income taxes in the United States is paid by someone in the bottom 50% of wage earners. Are the top half millionaires? Noooo, more like "thousandaires." The top 50% were those individuals or couples filing jointly who earned $29,019 and up in 2003. (The top 1% earned $295,495-plus.) Americans who want to are continuing to improve their lives, and those who don't want to, aren't. Here are the wage earners in each category and the percentages they pay: The top 1% pay over a third, 34.27% of all income taxes. (Up from 2003: 33.71%) The top 5% pay 54.36% of all income taxes (Up from 2002: 53.80%). The top 10% pay 65.84% (Up from 2002: 65.73%). The top 25% pay 83.88% (Down from 2002: 83.90%). The top 50% pay 96.54% (Up from 2002: 96.50%). The bottom 50%? They pay a paltry 3.46% of all income taxes (Down from 2002: 3.50%). The top 1% is paying nearly ten times the federal income taxes than the bottom 50%! And who earns what? The top 1% earns 16.77% of all income (2002: 16.12%). The top 5% earns 31.18% of all the income (2002: 30.55%). The top 10% earns 42.36% of all the income (2002: 41.77%); the top 25% earns 64.86% of all the income (2002: 64.37%) , and the top 50% earns 86.01% (2002: 85.77%) of all the income. I have made an executive decision as the owner and ultimate editor of this website that this table and these numbers stay on this website forever - updated when each year's numbers come out, of course. In order to get these facts, you have to see them each and every day. This story, along with a link to the IRS chart, will stay somewhere on the RushLimbaugh.com homepage so everyone can see and find these numbers at any time. It's crucial that people get this, so please, share it with a friend now!
North Korea Nuclear Threat
Ok, so we have Kim Jon "Mentaly" Il up in North Korea creating a nuclear threat not only in that region but for the world as a whole. He has no business producing nuclear technology, nor does he frankly have a need for it. For such a ruthless dictator to have such technology can lead to only one logical end--war. Of course, who do we have to thank for this current situation? We can thank the Clinton Administration and their Secretary of State, Madeline Albright "not so bright". This is a frightening situation that we're becoming involved in and we need to ensure the stability of the world by NOT allowing North Korea to have nuclear weapons. How do we do this? Well, for starters we can't go to the United Nations have have a discussion about imposing sanctions and making statements of condemnation, or some other useless crap like that. We need to take very bold, decisive actions in order to resolve this current situation.
Rep. Foley Controversy
What's the big deal about Representative Foley?! I mean honestly, the man was disgraced before his state and the entire country, he's admitted that he's gay (even though he's married to a women and has children), he's admitted that he has an alcohol problem, and he's resigned due to these matters. He has accepted responsibility, apologized, has taken action to help correct his problems, resigned from his public office, and still this isn't enough?! Now, the democrats are attack Speaker of The House Dennis Hastert from Illinois and calling for his resignation--where does it all end?!?!?!?! When President Clinton was found to have had sexual relations with Monica Lewinski, did he resign to protect the integrity of his office--HELL NO!!! Instead, he insisted that he didn't have an affair with this woman. Oh ok, so it's ok for Clinton to have sexual relations with a woman but it's not ok for Foley to simply send explicit e-mails? Now, I'm not saying that Foley should get a pass, quite to the contrary. I think it's sick and perverted what he did, it's immoral and isn't justified; however, he did do the right thing by resigning and protecting the integrity of the Congressional office, which is far more than I can say for "Slick Willie".
