Papal Controversy

Ok folks, so many of you are probably aware of the growing controversy regarding Pope Benedict XVI's comments regarding the Muslim faith. For starters, WHAT!? The pope didn't make direct comments regarding Muslims in the world--he simply quoted a 14th Century text regarding the notion of religion being combined with war. What is soooooo wrong with quoting history? The answer is simple...it has nothing to do with history; rather, the Muslim community and the mainstream media here in the United States simply views this as an excellent opportunity to bash on the Catholic faith. For centuries, Catholics, Christians, and Jews have been criticized by the local media and Muslim leaders of the world simply because they stand for truth, justice, morals, and values. Now, that's not to say that Muslims don't stand for the same concepts as well--they do! However, it's their radical leaders that have their own agenda that are attempting to indoctrinate their followers with this hatred for Christians and Jews. Oh sure, it's ok for Ron Howard to make a film essentially bashing Christians across the world; however, it's not ok when the leader of the Catholic church simply quotes historical dialogue??? Give me a break!!! This is nothing more than liberal Muslims and liberals in the mainstream American media attempting to, yet again, criticize the Christian faith and of course Christians are powerless do defend themselves. Anything they say or do will not make a difference in the world arena...any apologies that are and have been made are not suitable. What are Christians supposed to do? Oh, I know--we're supposed to give-up and convert to the Muslim faith I guess. Well excuse me for actually having a backbone and choosing to stand-up for what I believe in--my faith!

Hello My Friends

Hey there! Yes, this is me on the left-hand side of this posting. My name is Tim Meyer, as you probably found indicated by the name of this blog. I am currently a senior at Lindenwood University; however, my college career didn't begin here. I have my Associates in Arts degree from Kaskaskia College in Centralia, IL. I have also attended Southern Illinois Univeristy @ Edwardsville and Columbia College Chicago., all in pursuit of either a degree in conducting or radio. Currently I am at LU for Mass Communications: Radio. My career aspirations include have a nationally syndicated political talk show and someday running for U.S. Congress. I find that this blog will not only fulfill the requirements for this class, COM 333; however, it will also be a great way for me to publish some of my commentary regarding political issues facing the nation. This is an important time we live in, and I think it's important for everyone to be well-informed with the full facts, not just the general opinion of the mainstream media in America. It is through this basic premise that I hope to make a difference on the radio. My goal is to help those who are not informed on the issues to become informed, as opposed to having access to only one side of a political issue.
